About Ward 4A
Ward 4A is our orthopaedic ward which treats children and young people for a range of muscular and skeletal issues. Patients on the ward will vary in age from young children to young adults.
There are a total of 32 beds on Ward 4A, which are separated into colour coded zones: yellow, blue, green, and orange.
- The yellow, blue and green zones are side rooms in Ward 4A with ensuite facilities
- The orange zone is made up of a 4-bedded bay with shared bathroom facilities
Ward 4A facilities
On Ward 4A, you’ll find a play area at the very end of the ward in the yellow zone. Patients and siblings are welcome to use this play space but must be always supervised by an adult.
Next to the play space is a kitchen area, where parents/carers can make a hot drink, prepare food, or heat up baby milk.
Next to each patient bed on the ward, there is also a pull-out bed to allow one parent/carer to stay with their child overnight. Speak to someone on the ward if you would like to use this.
Ward 4A mealtimes
Ward 4A has its own dedicated ward chef who is on hand to provide your child with their favourite meals during their stay with us. The mealtimes on the ward are approximately 12pm for a freshly cooked light lunch and 4:30pm for a full evening meal.
Ward 4A visiting times
Normal visiting hours on Ward 4A are between 1pm and 7pm daily. Parents/carers can visit their child at any time on the ward. Please note that only parents or carers are allowed into the hospital after 8pm each day.
All visitors must press the entrance buzzer to gain access to Ward 4A. For health and safety reasons, please do not allow others to follow you into the ward.
Infection prevention
We ask that anyone going onto Ward 4A wears a facemask. Don’t worry if you don’t have one of your own, or if you’ve forgotten, you will be able to get one at the entrance to the ward.
